Liverpool John Moores University
A Brief History
LJMU originally opened as an Art’s School back in 1823. Named after one of Liverpool’s greatest entrepreneurs, it’s located at 70 Mount Pleasant and received its university status in 1992.
All of the courses offered at LJMU are designed and executed in a way to prepare you for work once you have graduated. Throughout your studies with the university, you’ll understand what it’s like to work and live in the real world as an adult, and all of the LJMU staff are dedicated to using the best teaching methods.
With modern facilities and classrooms, it’s not surprising why this is one of the most sought-after universities in the UK.
The Campus
The university has three campuses in Liverpool – the city campus, Mount Pleasant Campus and the IM Marsh campus. All are located within walking distance of the city centre and are home to different faculties.
The best LJMU accommodation is not just one within walking distance to the university itself. With great transport links, you’ll also be able to experience great areas like Aigburth if the busy life in the city centre is not for you.
Each year, LJMU has around 20,000 students at their campuses thanks to their top-rated courses and their central location in the northwest of England.
Liverpool’s student culture
As one of the fastest-growing cities in the UK, Liverpool is home to diverse culture, vibrant nightlife and event spaces dotted in and around the centre. It’s one of the most popular destinations for students thanks to its range of courses, a bustling student scene and its dedication to creating a safe space for everyone. The city welcomes people from all walks of life, so no matter where you’re from, you’ll feel right at home studying in Liverpool.
Well known for the Beatles, Liverpool is also home to two major football clubs, Liverpool FC and Everton FC, who rival each other in the Premier League. If you’re an avid football fan, then Concert Square is the place to be on match day.
Transport in Liverpool
Liverpool is home to rail, bus and boat networks that allow any visitor to travel to and from the suburbs with ease. All are accessible thanks to inclusive council decisions, and the city itself has an airport that charters flights to almost anywhere in the world.
Whether you choose LJMU accommodation close to the city centre or somewhere just outside the busy city, you’ll find that transportation to and from campus is easy and often affordable.
